KUCHINGORO IDP CAMP OUTREACH: IMPACT, DIGNITY AND HOPE IN ACTION in Abuja, FCT | Linda Dominguez Foundation
We went. We served. We made an impact. And by the grace of God, we returned safely.
The Linda Dominguez Foundation's outreach to Kuchingoro Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Abuja was more than a distribution exercise. It was a day of compassion, health education, literacy support, and community care.
Despite heavy traffic, long hours of waiting, and the challenges of getting to the location, our team remained committed to the mission. The journey tested our patience, but the needs of the community reminded us why we had to show up.
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
THE IMPACT IN NUMBERS
100 FAMILIES REACHED WITH CLEAN DRINKING WATER
We distributed 100 bags of sachet water, amounting to 2,000 sachets, to support access to drinking water for families in the camp.
322 CHILDREN REACHED WITH ESSENTIAL SUPPORT
Children received literacy materials, snacks, and hygiene supplies, including sanitary pads, to support learning, personal hygiene, and dignity.
3 CRITICAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING CONVERSATIONS
Our outreach also created space for important conversations on:
- Breast Cancer Awareness
- Mental Health Awareness
- Drug Abuse Prevention and Sensitization
Because meaningful impact is not only about what we give. It is also about the knowledge we share, the awareness we create, and the choices people are empowered to make.
BEHIND THE IMPACT: THE PEOPLE WHO STOOD STRONG
The road to Kuchingoro was not easy. Traffic delays, stress, and hours of waiting could have discouraged the team or become reasons to cancel. Yet our volunteers remained patient and committed.
We extend special appreciation to our FCT champions:
Hannatu Okoh — Lugbe City Director, FCT
Thank you for waiting patiently for several hours as we navigated the challenges of reaching the camp. Your patience, understanding, and commitment mean so much to this mission.
Musah Lukman Agbozoloyah — Kubwa City Volunteer, FCT
Thank you for your patience and for holding the fort despite the delays. Your willingness to stand with the team is deeply appreciated.
Charity Haruna Ufedo — Kubwa City Director, FCT
Thank you for being a dependable pillar of support. Your consistency and commitment continue to strengthen our work on the ground.
To every volunteer and supporter who contributed time, energy, resources, and encouragement, thank you. Every act of service helped make this outreach possible.
MORE THAN DISTRIBUTION
At Kuchingoro IDP Camp, we were reminded that dignity matters, health education matters, and access to learning materials matters.
A sachet of water may appear small, but it meets an immediate need. A book can open a door to learning. A sanitary pad can help protect a girl's comfort and dignity. A health conversation can encourage someone to seek information or support that could make a difference in their life.
This is why the Linda Dominguez Foundation continues to advance its SMILE Mission: Read. Rise. Thrive.
We believe communities deserve more than temporary assistance. They deserve opportunities to learn, make informed decisions, protect their health, and build better futures.
GRATITUDE FOR SAFE RETURN
Above all, we give God the glory for the success of this mission and for bringing our team safely home. The journey could have ended differently, and we do not take the gift of safety for granted. We are grateful for His protection and journey mercies.
Linda Dominguez : 🗣️Impact is not measured by noise or applause. It is measured by the lives we touch, the dignity we uphold, the knowledge we share, and the commitment to keep showing up even when the journey is difficult.
We went. We impacted. We returned with gratitude and testimonies.
This is LDF. Impact over noise.
