924 Children Impacted and Counting: Our Next Big Step for West Africa

As October comes to a close, we often ask ourselves what happens when a month of intense health awareness finally ends. The truth is that our commitment to youth health, hygiene, and education continues every single day.  October Health Month has been an incredible journey of awareness covering four vital pillars of youth protection. In the first week, we tackled drug abuse awareness, giving youth the facts they need to resist peer pressure. In the second week, we led breast cancer awareness during Pink Week, teaching early detection and self-examination. In the third week, we focused on child mental health and depression, breaking the stigma and providing safe spaces. In the final week, we championed girls' hygiene and period poverty, empowering young girls with sanitary products and dignity. Health awareness is never just a one-time event, it  is a lifelong commitment. True impact comes from sustaining these healthy habits throughout the year, continuing to educate o...

This hand means STOP. Stop to everything that steals a girl's future before it even starts.

Image
I am not just passionate, I am angry. Angry that in 2026: A girl still misses school because she cannot afford a pad. That's Period POVERTY. A girl is still cut, silenced, and scarred in the name of culture. That's FGM.( Female genital mutilation) A child still thinks drugs will make the pain go away. That's a future destroyed. Thru SMILE MISSION, I say NO with action We go into idps to *educate to empower* — because when a girl knows her body, rights, worth, she can protect her FUTURE  We provide HOPE kits to *end period poverty* — because no girl should bleed in shame. We speak out loud to *end FGM* — because her body is not a battleground. We look a child in the eye and say *SAY NO TO DRUGS* — Because their future is bigger than peer pressure, temporary escape or any high. This is not just awareness. This is prevention. This is education. This ...

SAFE WATER IS NOT A LUXURY: EVERY DROP PROTECTS A LIFE Clean water is more than something we drink. It is essential for health, hygiene, dignity, and survival.

Image
When families cannot access safe drinking water, everyday activities become harder. Preparing food, washing hands, maintaining sanitation, and managing menstruation safely can all become daily challenges. In this episode of the Linda Dominguez Foundation SMILE Mission Literacy Awareness Podcast, we ask an important question: What does a community lose when families cannot access safe drinking water and proper sanitation? We explore the impact of waterborne diseases, the importance of safe water storage, proper handwashing, and sanitation practices that help protect entire communities. We also discuss menstrual hygiene education, including how girls can use water safely and manage menstrual waste hygienically, even in communities with limited resources. In this episode, we discuss: - Waterborne Diseases: How unsafe water can contribute to illness and affect families, children, and entire communities. - Safe Wat...

MOZAMBIQUE ENGLISH CLASS: 15 LEARNERS, ONE MISSION, A WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES - SMILE Mission English Literacy Initiative

Image
15 LEARNERS. BASIC ENGLISH. BIGGER POSSIBILITIES. Learning does not always begin in a formal classroom. Sometimes, it begins with a book, a willing learner, a simple greeting, and someone who believes that education should reach everyone. Through the Linda Dominguez Foundation's SMILE Mission English Literacy Initiative, 15 learners in Mozambique participated in a community English lesson focused on practical speaking skills. Thirteen learners were seated in front, practising their English greetings, while two stood at the back observing the session. With their books and exercise books in hand, the learners practised simple expressions such as, “Hello! How are you?” and “I'm fine, thank you.” Every new word was an opportunity to build confidence. TODAY'S LESSON: GREETINGS AND INTRODUCTIONS Led by Inoque SebastiΓ£o Passial, Mozambique Country Director, the session focused on useful Engli...

BREAST CANCER DOES NOT ALWAYS START WITH PAIN: WHY EARLY AWARENESS MATTERS - No pain does not always mean no problem.

Image
When it comes to breast health, waiting until something hurts before seeking medical advice can delay the discovery of a problem that needs attention. Some breast cancers may cause no pain, especially in the early stages. In this episode of the Linda Dominguez Foundation SMILE Mission Literacy Awareness Podcast, we explore why understanding breast cancer warning signs matters, why changes in the breast should never be ignored, and how timely medical advice can support early detection. We also discuss the importance of knowing your body, appropriate screening, and routine medical check-ups. Breast health awareness is not about living in fear. It is about having the knowledge and confidence to take informed action. In this episode, we discuss: - Pain Is Not the Only Warning Sign: Why the absence of pain does not rule out a problem. - Know the Possible Changes: Lumps, swelling, changes in breast shape or size, skin dimpling, n...

OSUN STATE ORPHANAGE OUTREACH: LOVE IN ACTION, HOPE DELIVERED in Ipetu-Modu and Ile-Ife, Osun State | Linda Dominguez Foundation

Image
Some children need more than gifts. They need to know that someone remembers them, someone cares, and someone believes their future matters. Through the SMILE Mission, the Linda Dominguez Foundation visited two orphanage homes in Osun State with a simple but powerful message: You are seen. You are loved. You are not forgotten. WHAT DOES SMILE REALLY MEAN? THE MISSION BEHIND EVERY SMILE - A child asked what SMILE meant on our tshirts

Image
One child waiting for a book. One girl missing school because she lacks sanitary pads. One community waiting for someone to show up. And one global family determined to make a difference. She asked us, “What does SMILE mean?” We could have given her five letters. Instead, we showed her a mission. At the Linda Dominguez Foundation, SMILE is more than a name. It is our commitment to helping children, young people, women and underserved communities access education, health knowledge, dignity and opportunities to thrive. Because somewhere today, a child is waiting for a book she has never owned. Somewhere, a girl is sitting at home because she cannot afford sanitary pads. Somewhere, a young person needs guidance, a family needs support, and a community is waiting for someone to care enough to act. These are not distant stories. They are real challenges that demand more than sympath...

EDUCATION AND HEALTH EDUCATION SHOULD REACH EVERY VILLAGE and Distance should never decide who gets to learn.

Image
Imagine living in a community where the nearest school is miles away, the closest healthcare facility is difficult to reach, and reliable health information is almost impossible to find. For some people, this is not an imagination. It is everyday life. A child should not have to miss out on education because of where they were born. A mother should not have to rely on rumours because accurate health information is out of reach. And a community should not be forgotten simply because it is far from the city. In this episode of the Linda Dominguez Foundation SMILE Mission Literacy Awareness Podcast, we explore an important question: What happens when access to education and reliable health information depends on where someone lives? We examine the challenges facing underserved and rural communities, where inadequate learning facilities, healthcare costs, long travel distances and limited access to information can affect peopl...

LDF ABIA STATE OUTREACH: 263 LIVES TOUCHED THROUGH EDUCATION, HEALTH AWARENESS AND LOVE

Image
One community. Two outreach stops. One mission: to leave people better than we met them. What does impact look like when resources are limited, but the desire to make a difference remains strong? Sometimes, it looks like a student learning to say no to drug abuse. Sometimes, it is a girl receiving sanitary pads that help her manage her period with dignity. Sometimes, it is a child at an orphanage receiving essential supplies and discovering, through the kindness of others, that they are not forgotten. Today, the Linda Dominguez Foundation SMILE Mission brought these moments together in Umuahia South, Abia State, Nigeria, reaching a total of 263 children and adults through education support, hygiene supplies, drug abuse sensitisation and community care. Led by Oluchi Precious Emeka, Umuahia South City Director, Abia State, the outreach took us to two important stops, each reminding us why community-based action matters. ...
